This project includes an 84 inch thick foundation slab with a built-in truck scale foundation and approach slabs. The 55 foot diameter by 178 foot tall slip formed silo has a stairwell appendage and truck drive-through. There is a steel discharge hopper supported on slip formed columns and concrete ring beam. The top of the silo structure also has a concrete roof.
This project involved two separate silos. One 38 foot diameter and one 30 foot diameter. They were slipped simultaneously to a height of 134 feet. Each silo contains a steel hopper. The 38 foot diameter silo hopper is supported by concrete columns and ring beam. The 30 foot diameter silo hopper is welded to plates cast into the walls. A structural steel bridge spans roof to roof.
J-Sons’ scope of work included a 54 inch piled foundation slab and a 40 foot diameter by 128 foot tall silo with truck drive-through. The silo walls support a 48 inch thick bin floor and a 24 inch thick unload floor. This structure also has a concrete roof.
